So…I’m alive! Mostly! This blog is not exactly defunct but middle school sucks so I have not had any time to think about anything other than quadratic functions (h elp). so thank BEYONCE that I am on winter break and I can give you guys a mini-inspiration post. PS—did I tell you guys that I met the driving inspiration behind the blog, Tavi Gevinson? She was so sweet and I was so thankful to finally tell her everything I’ve ever wanted to say to her. ugh, my eyes r getting a little sweaty (no. not tears.). Anyway onto today’s post!
Mars (@sensitiveblackperson on Instagram) is incredibly astute, conscious, and just wonderful. Their posts constantly bless my feed and everything they share with the world is just fantastic. I have no words.
Rookie mag contributor Gabby Noone is my mother. Like, not my actual mother, but she is like the epitome of mom. every time one of her selfies (usually paired with hilariously dry caption) graces my screen I feel, like, new. Like I have been baptized. or something. I JUST REALLY WANNA WATCH “THE NANNY” AND EAT PIZZA WITH HER???
I feel like I should mention before I go into this that I want to be able to like Halsey. But for some reason I just can’t. Please tell me some good song/find me a therapist/protect me from teenage girls with fake septum rings who will hurt me if they find out.
In 2013 I heard Royals on the radio and I loved it immediately. I love Lorde so incredibly much that it hurts my heart. “Pure Heroine”, her most recent album, is all kinds of perfect.
Nicki is my other mother. I love this persona that she has now and I love how she is giving herself a voice in world that so often quiets women of color. also: play “feeling myself” at my funeral thanks bye
Actress/Activist Amandla Stenberg is killing it, per ususal. I’m feeling #blessed to be part of her generation and I couldn’t pick anyone more astute or talented to be one of the voices for me.
PLEASE watch this. Even if you consider yourself a person who understands cultural appropriation PLEASE PLEASE watch this.
so Rowan Blanchard actually stars on a Disney show (???) but she is SO conscious and I love it omg! She knows her place as an ally but is just so great and ugh.
okay first of all look,,,,
second of all
I saw Brooklyn on Christmas with my Nana. We all cried.
I have been watching a lot of Spike Lee and I love him as well. Watch School Days and Do the Right Thing.
PLEASE READ THE CARNIVAL AT BRAY BY JESSIE ANN FOLEY ITS BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT AND IT HURTS OKAY BYE
So I’m just going to show a few pics that inspire me ;)))) (why am i like this,,,)
